Forest Fantasy: Chapter 1, Part 3
The sound of the water drew closer to her. Amanda could not see the source yet, but she could hear the heavy splashing of falling water. Am I walking towards a waterfall? she wondered. There's no waterfalls near the campus. Just how far away am I?
She had decided to aim for the water when she began walking, knowing that water generally leads to civilization, but was this still the correct path to take? Then again, she was lost in the middle of a vast forest, larger than any forest she had ever seen. There wasn't any sign of a path to follow, so she would just have to take her best guess.
However, perhaps the forest itself could lead to so

Forest Fantasy: Chapter 1, Part 2
As she journeyed through the vast forest, Amanda began trying to process what had happened. She had been a loner for her entire life, and college had been no different. She had paid extra to get a room all to herself, so this prank couldn't have been caused by a roommate since she didn't have one. She hadn't tried to make any friends in her classes, and her few acquaintances were not the type to pull something like this, especially not when she had a test this morning.
Thinking of the test, Amanda quickly glanced down to her watch. Although it was nearing midday based on the sun's position, her watch still read 5:43:21 AM. As she kept stari

Forest Fantasy: Chapter 1, Part 1
Amanda was known for being a deep sleeper. She always set her alarm to make sure she was awake in time for her morning classes. Today, though, her alarm didn't go off, or if it had, she hadn't heard it.
Today, Amanda awoke slowly, groggily rolling side-to-side. Her bed felt rougher than normal though, causing her to slowly open her eyes. It took a few moments for her sight to register to the rest of her body.
When Amanda had gone to bed, it had been in her nice, warm bed in her college dorm, folding herself in between the sheets. Now, she found herself in the midst of a vast forest. Lush green trees grew on all sides of her, sunlight pe
Those who know me might be able to figure out what this deviation is about. I do believe that there is a battle raging within each person. I certainly know that there is within me.
Over the past few weeks, I have been doing some soul-searching, trying to find my way. I mean the average person has a lifetime of about 80 years or so. That's all that we have to make a difference, if we are going to make a difference at all. Shouldn't we try to make a difference then with each moment?
Of course, as soon as this topic gets started up, it starts to get shut down. There are simply some realities that must be faced. For example, like it or not, thi
This is a subject that came up a few days ago. Some may think that Christians believe simply because they are afraid of death. Although I cannot speak for other Christians, the reverse is true for me... life is more scary than death at the end.
Since we live inside of time (a subject that may be a later topic), we cannot fully comprehend infinity. When I think about an infinite life in heaven, it gives me goosebumps (gives me shivers just writing about it). I mean, in my limited mind, wouldn't it get boring or just dragged out to go on forever and ever. Compare that to the idea that when you die, you're just dead. While at first glance, heav

Big Bang, Bigger Questions
As a tutor, I see the Big Bang theory come up quite a bit. It's one thing I simply cannot overlook when tutoring. So many books present it as a fact even though it's a theory. I have one simple qualm with the Big Bang theory. If someone wants to explain to me the solution, I would love to hear it.
From what I can tell, the Big Bang theory has two main idea strands. The first is that the Big Bang was the beginning of all creation, that before it, there was nothing. The second is that the Big Bang was caused by a collection of gases, particles, etc. that exploded. Each version has a similar major issue.

Animes + The Problem of Evil
In philosophy/theology, the Problem of Evil is the question of how could an omniscient, omnipotent, and benevolent God let us suffer through all of the evil in the world?
Last night, I was up until 3 AM watching almost the entire second season of Dragonaut. Once it was over, I was struck with an odd realization... we already seem to have the solution to the Problem of Evil.
In almost every anime I've seen, especially combat-based animes, the basic plot is generally the same: another power in the universe comes to us and at some point offers us what it believes is a chance at a "better" existence, yet humanity rebels. When faced with the cho

Hello to anyone reading this. This will likely be my last journal entry. I am in the process of cleaning out my life. I've given up video games and animes so far. The next (and last) steps are to finish phasing out the internet. It will be over whence I finish Tutorial 5 for Stencyl 2.0, which is drawing closer since I don't have other distractions in the way in the more (besides a major one called my job being busier than ever before ;P).
It's been nice getting to know all ya'll. :)
I just got a notice from DA... seems like today is the 1-year anniversary for me since joining here. I'm surprised at how quickly this "year" has gone by. A lot has changed in my life since then... both online and IRL.
For those who missed it, I recently published my latest game, Snake Evolution. You can find it on Kongregate here: http://www.kongregate.com/games/Abigayl/snake-evolution
EDIT: For those who have been waiting for an "I'm back" message to return to the livestream, I am indeed back (although I do hope to play the new Kingdom Hearts game from time to time :P).
This game was created in only 9 hours of cramming. Swatllama informed me yesterday that there was a contest on Mochi to make a game that lasted 60 seconds... but the contest ended at midnight. Thus began another furious programming session (anyone remember Holiday Block Breaker that came about the same way? ;P). In the end, I'm proud of the result. It's not my best game, but it taught me a lot, about programming, list comparisons, using Mochi, etc.
You can find the best version on Kongregate (although due to Mochi, it has gone viral and can be found on tons of game sites):
